Oak cottage is a very romantic cottage with stunning rural views. The cottage was converted from an old barn and has exposed wooden beams and brickwork. Downstairs there is a very spacious lounge with solid wood floor and two very comfortable sofas, TV and DVD. One wall in the lounge is completely glazed with double doors opening on to the south facing patio, so it is very light.
The lounge is open plan with a chalet style fixed dining table which follow through to the kitchen. The kitchen has a twin induction hob and a combined microwave, oven and grill plus all the utensils you need for self- catering.
Upstairs the cottage has two very romantic bedrooms, the large main bedroom has exposed beams through out and a panoramic floor to ceiling window providing far reaching views across open countryside and the lake. The bedroom has mahogany dressing table and an en suite dressing room. The second bedroom is accessed via the main bedroom and also has exposed beams plus views.
Beautiful Setting and Warm Welcome
Just returned from a very relaxing weekend at Oak Cottage. We were warmly welcomed and the cottage was very clean and well equipped with extremely comfortable beds and views over the surrounding countryside and landscaped gardens.
Nigel had provided much information via email prior to our visit so that we could plan our stay and discover the local sights. At the cottage there were also maps and details of local walks, making it easy to explore the local byways and eateries.
Good position for exploring this part of the Kent countryside with very attractive villages and easy access to larger towns as well. Would definitely recommend.
Short stay at Hop Cottage
We spent a really wonderful time with our friends at Hop Cottage. We had a very warm welcome from Nigel and the cottage supplied us with everything we needed. Above that, the stillness and beauty of the surroundings is amazing ! We definitely will be returning in future.
A Wonderful Weekend Away
I booked hop cottage to accommodate my sisters hen weekend, all be it a mild one with my elderly mother and my 4 month old daughter coming along.
The cottage is set in a beautiful location, and set off track behind gates so privacy and security are ensured. The cottage has a beautiful swimming lake, which as too cold we did not get to enjoy this time but looked absolutely beautiful. The cottage is modern and overlooks beautiful fields with resident horses.
I will be returning to enjoy the cottage and surroundings without having a hen weekend to run as feel I did not get to appreciate all there was on offer due to being out all day. The cottage is wonderfully well equipped. I've stayed before in places where it sleeps 8 but only has 6 plates etc but that was not the case here.
All we could ask for including filter coffee and champagne glasses etc. The cottage is decorated to a high standard too. The conservatory was my favourite area so peaceful and tranquil. To demonstrate how quiet it was here my baby slept through the night for the first time both nights we stayed! Both Nigel and Wendy were wonderful in ensuring we had all we needed and through email correspondence as well. They could not have been more helpful. I would definitely recommend this cottage to friends and will certainly be returning to enjoy the property on another occasion.
Great place to stay - exceeded expectations
We choose to stay here because we thought it fitted our needs: it turned out to be much better than that. To briefly describe the party there were 9 adults and one child (aged 3) - we stayed over New Year. We had a gasp and a 'wow' as we drove up the drive. The cottages are set in a beautiful location in the Kent countryside; there were two horses in the adjacent field, which we called horse and chestnut. And although it felt like the middle of nowhere, the village (with a decent pub which served good food) was only a mile and a bit away.
The cottages were clean, well presented, with a good amount of space and well equipped - well that is a slightly understatement, there were bonuses that we didn't expect, in particular the toys and games. There were enough bathrooms, the beds were incredibly comfy, the towels were fluffy and the kitchen had all the equipment we needed for all our meals.
Wendy and Nigel were helpful, professional and friendly throughout - couldn't have asked for more. As the organiser of our party I worried about choosing the right place and one, which suited all our differing needs, but as soon as we got there I knew it was going to be good. My friends and I had a brilliant holiday with many wonderful memories created, which will be long cherished. Many thanks to Nigel and Wendy for providing the perfect backdrop.
This property was rented for wedding guests and it provided them with easy access to Ashford and surrounding areas. The cottage was very well maintained, clean and fresh. The owners were very warm and helpful. The surrounding countryside areas provided an amazing feeling of freshness and peace! Our guests had a memorable stay and would definitely rent this property again in the future. I will recommend these cottages to my family and friends. My wife and I are already planning to rent this property for a short break in the summer of 2013!
We had a great holiday in the cottage of Nigel and Wendy. They 're friendly and bid us a hospitable welcome! The cottage is cozy and equipped with a lot of luxury. With a planned adjustment of the shower the cottage is even more perfect for a holiday and a great starting point to travel to London, Canterbury, Dover, Rye, Wye etc.
So, the stay was a good experience and I'm sure that we 're coming back... There's nothing negative to say about the cottage, the stay or the friendly and warm hosts Nigel and Wendy.
Wonderful Spot of Kent!
It is a magical place, like being in a fairy tale, with squirrels, wild rabbit, horses and so on, including two lucky golden retriever, Monti and Dylan!
Huge cottage with a lot of space inside and a big conservatory. Well equipped kitchen and great dining room with a panoramic view on the outside thru the conservatory. Big living room with a big TV.
Nice comfortable beds. In a few words: A-Okay! Nothing to complain; on the contrary it is difficult to leave! I guess it should be terrific in spring. Nigel (the owner) sent me by email some PDF with information on how to get there, places to eat out, places to visit, and a shopping list with prices.
No problems for Vegetarians meals (by the way... try "The George Inn") In the nearby area there are lots of things to see. It is also not so far from London, about 50mi by car. In my opinion is a must.
Peaceful Remote and Friendly
Two of us stayed at Oak Cottage for two weeks whilst studying at ABDO College in Godmersham in September 2012 and have already booked for our next block in 2013.
The cottage is absolutely gorgeous, the welcoming off Nigel and Wendy was amazingly friendly and we were made to feel right at home. Nigels directions to the cottage were invaluable!
It is lovely to be surrounded by fields and animals. The cottage is remote and feels very safe and secure but is close to Ashford and Canterbury for anything you may need.
It was a bit cold to go swimming in the swimming lake but we sat down dipping our feet in the relaxing atmosphere.
The cottage has everything you could want and is very comfortable.
Our stay was fantastic and we can't wait to get down there again.
I had been planning a surprise weekend away for my husbands 30th birthday and came across this beautiful cottage! My husband and I arrived on the Friday and was delighted with the small 2 bed cottage.
It has everything you need for a relaxing weekend away, stunning gardens surround the properties and provide a gorgeous view from the bedrooms. The surprise for my husband was that our friends joined us for another 2 nights in the bigger cottage next door.
This cottage was equally as lovely and had the added bonus of a secluded garden where we had a few bbq's and played table tennis and bowls!
We all enjoyed a long walk through the fields and woodland areas, which surrounded the cottages. Nigel and Wendy we're very welcoming and made our stay very comfortable. Not one of our party wanted to leave! We will definitely be returning for another stay! 🙂
Perfect Position-Great Access to South East U.K.
We stayed in Oak cottage for a whole month, 2 adults, 3 children we all enjoyed the stay and would definitely stay here again, it is perfectly positioned between Canterbury & Ashford. You could be in London or France within an hour depending on your transport choice or enjoy a nice country walk or drive from the property and also close to a number of family friendly attractions, Our hosts Nigel & Wendy took every opportunity to make us feel welcome.
Excellent-Can’t Be Faulted
My partner and I have stayed in many hotels and decided instead to opt for a holiday rental instead. Having had a bad experience recently with a cottage we rented we were anxious about our experience of Oak Cottage.
Safe to say our concerns were lifted as soon as we were greeted with Nigel as soon as we arrived. Excellent customer care (esp. when we ran out of butter on a cold wintry night in the middle of nowhere !)
The cottage itself is amazing as are the grounds. To visit in the summer is now on our agenda to see the surrounding gardens in all their glory. Thank you for making us so welcome.
Lovely, Idyllic and Friendly
Great service, even had fresh eggs from the hens and ducks. The house was beautiful great facilities main bedroom overlooked the lakes.
Great Base for Exploring North Downs and East Kent
We had a lovely time. Our hosts were really friendly; arranging to get food in advance from the local barn shop was great, both for convenience and quality.
As it was February, and rather damp, I look forward to going back at a time when we can maybe enjoy some good weather and sit outside with a glass of wine on an evening. The cottage is secluded and peaceful, with great views.
Travelling group: Young Children
Would I recommend this vacation rental to my best friend? Yes.
Fantastic spot...and so friendly
We stayed at Oak cottage for a few days and it really is a lovely place, down a quiet lane, in beautiful countryside. Nigel and Wendy who run it were really friendly and helpful, thank you very much!
A perfect stay in a friendly atmosphere. The owners welcomed us upon arrival, and we were able to have a relaxing stay in a well equipped house (no need to bring anything; towels and bed linen available, complete kitchen inventory and washing machine that was very clean).
The house and surroundings were well adapted for our children (2 and 4 years old) with a high chair, cot, plastic plates, playground on site and forest nearby. They had a lot of fun with all the animals (rabbits, horses, and the owner took them along for a duck- and chicken-egg hunt).
The village shop is nearby and a 24h supermarket is at 10 minutes by car. The owner is available and trustworthy, and we were refunded our deposit straight after our departure. Certainly an address to be advised, and we will return with pleasure.
Short Break Visiting London and Kent
Conveniently located between Dover, Canterbury and London (1h30 drive from the center), we stayed in this lovely cottage in the wilderness. The hosts are friendly, the house clean, well equipped and comfortable. Sheets and towels are provided.
A beautiful landscaped garden and a pond for swimming embellish the scene. Our hosts recommend visiting places and pubs (we tested the "Plough", very good!) It is ideal for a family of 4 or 5 people. A haven of peace after a busy day in London! We highly recommend this address.
Beautiful Location, Great Facilities, Very Comfortable
Landlords are especially helpful in making the stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. The swimming lake is especially fun and was a real highlight of the stay - rain or shine! We will definitely be staying again.
